That is what I call surfing really big. On August 15, 2012, Sofia Borquez (23, from Arica, Chile) joined the Big Leagues of women's surfing with this wave at El Buey as photographed by Tom Doig. At this point in the early going of the 2012/13 season, this wave would be among the leaders for the biggest wave of the year, man or woman. And it surely puts Ms. Borquez into the mix for the Billabong Girls Award as well. Who would like to tell the world a little more about Sofia?
